Cyber Security across IEEE CIS
There is substantial activity across the IEEE and IEEE CIS communities. Key events for 2022 are listed below.
(Note - we are doing our best to capture activities across IEEE CIS here. If you have any questions or would like your event to be listed here, please contact us.)
Planned Activities
The planned activities will have a focus on multi-disciplinary research involving data science and behaviour science.
What is the CIS Task Force?
Cyber Security has rapidly become a primary area of concern at government, societal, industrial – and research level. Computational Intelligence techniques have substantial potential for supporting the development of improved cyber security at a number of levels ranging from purely quantitative data driven techniques such as employed in intrusion detection and protection systems to the socio-technical domain of cyber security risk assessment and decision making. The nature-inspired and human-centric character of many CI techniques in particular provides a strong rationale for the contribution-potential of CI in the cyber security space where the integration of human and technical aspects is crucial. This has created a multi-disciplinary research field for CI in cyber security.
The Task Force on Cyber Security is designed to provide both internal (to the CI community) and external visibility to the challenge of cyber security and the CI contributions in this domain. We recognise that a rich set of great activities is ongoing around the cyber security topic across the IEEE and IEEE CIS specifically. In this sense, a key role for the TF is to promote those activities and seek constructive ways to bring together the stakeholders engaged in cyber security across IEEE CIS.
CI in cyber security is practical in nature. This TF also provides a communication platform where CI research community and cyber security domain experts can work together to tackle the real world challenges that arise from the integration of IT (information technology) and OT (operational technology), within finance, health, aviation, maritime and other critical infrastructure sectors.

- 2022 IEEE International Conference on Cyber Security and Resilience (CSR 2022):
Planned Activities
The planned activities will have a focus on multi-disciplinary research involving data science and behaviour science.
- Organise a special session or a workshop at an IEEE conference about the TF topics.
- Strengthen the collaboration between industry and academia to accelerate the commercialisation of CI technologies applied in cyber security in real-world practice.
- Establish a research network between the researchers and the practitioners including the creation of a social media account such as LinkedIn or Twitter to facilitate the dissemination of the news, events and research.
- Discuss about the IEEE Standards Activities in the Network and Information Security (NIS) Space and its applicability in the field of Cyber Security.
